Blossom Sure Start offers a range of services to families with pre-school children to help them reach their full potential. Services are offered both in your own home and in local venues such as community centres.  Services are free and strictly confidential.

Location of your Sure Start project

Sure Start services are available to all families with at least one pre-school child who lives in the following areas of Portadown:

  • Armagh Road  /Mahon Road
  • Brownstown / Rectory
  • Corcrain / Redmanville
  • Drumcree
  • Edgarstown
  • Tandragee Road
  • Town Centre streets and
  • Adjoining streets and housing developments.

What services are on offer?

Current services include:

  • Ante-natal support
  • Baby massage
  • Breast feeding support group
  • Parenting Programmes
  • Family Support (in your own home)
  • Health Visiting
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Creative Arts and Play
  • Home-Start Volunteer Support (in your own home)
  • Support to Early Years Organisations
  • Support to Migrant Worker families
  • Courses in Cooking and Nutrition
  • Safety Equipment Loan Scheme
  • Mobile Crèche Facilities

Development of services will be ongoing in response to needs/demands identified by the parents/carers.  Blossom Sure Start encourages feedback on existing services and ideas for developing services.  Comments welcomed either by telephone or in writing to Blossom Sure Start office.

Who is responsible for Sure Start (Partner's Names)

Blossom Sure Start is managed by a Committee made up of representatives from statutory, voluntary and community organisations with an interest in support services to families with young children.  It includes parents, parent and toddlers groups, local early years groups, community organisations, voluntary organisations such as Early Years, Home-Start and Social Health & Social Care Trust.

What happens once I register with Sure Start?

You will receive a welcome letter and information pack, providing details of services and contact names and numbers for Sure Start staff.  You will receive a copy of Blossom Time, our quarterly newsletter, and periodically other information on services on offer through Sure Start.

Please provide examples how your Sure Start project has helped families within your area.  If possible could you also provide some quotes from your families.
